Lunar Reflections :: New & Full Moon Journal Prompts, Rooted in Vedic Astrology
Twice each month, three days before the Moon turns, a thorough synthesis and a set of reflection prompts arrives in your inbox. drawn from the nakshatra the moon is moving through, and written to be answered honestly.
Most of us have felt it :: some weeks the inner weather shifts & we cannot name why. Something wants attention. Something is asking to be finished, or grieved, or finally begun. The Moon has always been the body that tracks this — she is the fastest-moving light in our sky, and in the Vedic tradition she governs manas: the feeling mind. Her movement is our movement.
Lunar Reflections is my offering for anyone who wants to work with that rhythm rather than be carried by it. For every New & Full Moon, I write a reflection from where the Moon is actually standing in the living sky — the star-field she occupies, the deity who holds that portion of the heavens, the story that portion of the heavens has been telling for several thousand years — and I turn this wisdom into questions you can sit with. Not predictions about what will happen to you, but questions about what is happening within you.
What arrives in your inbox ::
Each delivery lands at least three days before the exact New or Full Moon, so the reflection has room to breathe before the lunation peaks. Inside every issue ::
The nakshatra & what her name means. The Moon's position mapped not only by sign but by nakshatra: one of the twenty-seven lunar mansions of Vedic Astrology, each with its own symbol, presiding deity, and particular flavor of consciousness. I translate the Sanskrit and unfold the imagery, so the meaning arrives whole even if you have never encountered the term before.
The mythology behind it. The deity who governs that lunar mansion, the stories told about them, and what these stories are quietly teaching about the human condition. This is the heart of each letter: rich, specific, and never recycled.
A seasonal thread. How the current turn of The Wheel of the Year mirrors the lunar invitation, written for both hemispheres, because half of you are entering Winter while the other half are walking into Summer, and both are true!
An Alchemical stage. The corresponding movement in The Great Work — nigredo, calcinatio, solutio, etc. — explained plainly, as an inner process rather than an obscure medieval curiosity.
Twelve to fifteen reflection prompts. Grouped by theme, threaded through the whole letter, and written to be genuinely answerable. Some will not apply to you; one or two will land uncomfortably close. This is the point!
A grounding reminder. Every energy has a shadow expression. I name it, so the practice stays honest.
What makes these reflections different ::
There is a great deal of moon content in the world, and most of it says roughly the same thing: release on the Full Moon, manifest on the New Moon. It’s not wrong, exactly, for it’s simply very thin and tends to skip the part where you actually have to look at your Self.
The reflections I write are grounded entirely in Jyotiṣa (Vedic Astrology), which reads the sky by the sidereal zodiac: the fixed stars as they genuinely stand above us tonight, rather than a symbolic overlay laid on top of them. Within that system the Moon is located by nakshatra, the twenty-seven lunar mansions, which offer a far more precise reading of a lunation's specific quality and spiritual signature than sign alone can give.
What that means in practice :: a New Moon in the same sign can carry two entirely different invitations depending on which nakshatra she occupies: one asks you to burn something away, while the other asks you to feed something patiently. The prompts follow this precision!
This is Self Work, not fortune-telling. I do not tell you what the Moon will do to you. I’m a Vedic Counselor, not a fortune-teller, and my whole practice rests on the conviction that transformation comes from within, and the sky is a mirror for Self-inquiry, never a set of instructions. You remain the authority on your own life. These letters simply hand you better questions.
Who this is for ::
Those who journal and want a rhythm rather than a blank page.
Those drawn toward Vedic wisdom — Yoga, Āyurveda, Vedāntic inquiry — who want the Astrology of that same lineage rather than a Westernized substitute.
Those in therapy, in recovery, in grief, or in the middle of a transition, who need a private place to think & reflect honestly twice a month.
Those who have found conventional moon content too surface-level to be of use!
Those simply curious about nakshatras, mythology, and symbolic language, who like to learn something real from what lands in their inbox.
No prior knowledge of Astrology is needed! Every Sanskrit term is translated where it appears; nothing is assumed. You do not need your birth chart, your birth time, or any belief system in particular, only a willingness to be honest on paper.
Frequently asked questions ::

Lunar Reflections is a free journal prompt newsletter series sent twice each month: once before every New Moon & once before every Full Moon. Each issue explores the nakshatra (Vedic lunar mansion) the Moon is moving through, its ruling deity & mythology, its seasonal parallel, and offers twelve to fifteen reflection prompts for Self-inquiry.
-
A nakshatra is one of the twenty-seven lunar mansions of Vedic Astrology: segments of the sky the Moon passes through as she completes her monthly cycle. Each has its own name, symbol, presiding deity, planetary ruler, and shakti (power). Because the Moon moves through roughly one nakshatra per day, they describe a lunation's quality far more precisely than zodiac sign alone.
-
No! Every term is explained the moment it appears, and you do not need your birth chart, birth time, or any background in this Jyotiṣa (Vedic Aatrology) series. The letters are written to be understood by someone encountering these ideas for the first time, while still offering depth to those who have studied for years.
-
Twice a month: each issue arrives approximately three days before the exact New Moon or Full Moon, giving you time to read & reflect before the lunation peaks. This is roughly twenty-four letters a year, nothing more. No daily emails, no sales sequences.
-
Yes, entirely! Lunar Reflections is offered as a part of my seva — selfless service — the same principle underlying my donation-based counseling practice!
-
Jyotiṣa uses the Sidereal zodiac, which tracks the constellations as they actually sit in the sky today. Because of the slow wobble of the Earth's axis, sidereal placements now differ from the more familiar Tropical (Western) ones by roughly one sign. If the Moon's placement here reads differently than you expect, this is why — the nakshatra layer is what makes the difference most meaningful.
-
Neither. I do not forecast events or tell you what the Moon will do to you. These reflections use the lunar cycle as a mirror for Self-examination, in keeping with a consciousness-based counseling approach that holds you — not the sky, nor me — as the authority on your own life.
-
Yes. Every issue includes seasonal context for both hemispheres. The Wheel of the Year section is written so the natural rhythms described actually match the ones outside your window.
-
It helps, but it’s not required. Some subscribers write pages; some sit with a single question during meditation, on a walk, or in the car. The prompts are designed to work whether or not a pen & paper or digital journal is involved!

Yes, absolutely! I offer donation-based, non-clinical Vedic Counseling for individuals, couples, and young adults worldwide. Lunar Reflections is an entirely separate offering with no obligation attached; many subscribers simply read for years, and that is a complete relationship in itself.
